Ghosts are a common interest in America today. Many small towns have their very own stories and legends about local ghosts. Small kids love to be told a scary story about chilling encounters with ghosts. In the English Renaisance times all kinds of superstitions surrounded ghosts and demons. People in those days truly believed that demons would come after your soul and ghosts were a sure sign of the devil. Some examples of some popular ghosts in the renniance days was Thomas Nash, Terrors of the Night, a ghost will disguise itself as men’s parents and haunt them if they are doing something wrong. Even today many people still believe in ghosts and truly think that they will be haunted by a demon. Living in a small town there are many local legends about ghosts. One of the more famous legends is about the cabins behind the Tate House, and the Carver Mill Bridge in Hinton. It is believed that a couple drove across the bridge many years ago and the bridge collasped thus killing the couple. As legend has it, when you drive across the bridge and stop the couple will suddenly appear at the drivers side window. It is thought they are trying to warn anyone who passes of their grim fate and to turn back and not continue on the bridge. I believe that people continue to be enthralled with ghosts because of the thrill and scare that people get when they think they see an apparition.
